I decided to give my crayons a break, and switched over to watercolors for a bit.
Using another Elvgren (Oil) Painting as a reference, I wanted to create as faithful of a reproduction as possible… with a different medium!
First I worked out the sketch in my sketchbook, then I transferred the drawing over to watercolor paper, and lastly I painted her in!
Watercolors are fun because you can finish a painting quickly, and you can get some really pretty effects… However, it’s a lot harder to take risks when you know you can’t erase or paint over your mistakes!

Starting with the same drawing as yesterday’s painting, I decided to give this image another spin- this time I changed the background to a sunset sky, and made a few minor adjustments to the face.

Today I am a QUARTER of the way through my year-long daily project!
I wanted to do something special, so I spent some extra time working on this colored pencil drawing today. I used my favorite Lyra “Color Giants,” and based the image on (surprise surprise) another Elvgren painting:
“Waiting for You (Proofs Wanted)”

Sometimes the very best days are those I can spend in my pajamas, drawing all day...
